There is a statistic that says the average person spends around three whole years of their life in the bathroom -- and if that is the case, is there any reason not to make your bathroom as comfortable and useful as possible? Add some nice touches and make those three years worth something!
If your current bathing routine involves nothing but a shower, yet you find yourself needing somewhere to relax a bit after a long day of work, consider finding a way to integrate a bathtub into the room. If space is an issue, there are plenty of shower baths that can be put into medium-sized bathrooms. Sure, the ideal is often one of those free-standing claw foot tubs, but sometimes people can't fit them in their bathrooms, or can't manage to get them up a tricky flight of stairs.
The toilet itself is also a good place to fix up: sometimes after a few years of use, toilets don't work the way they did when they were installed. And if a new toilet doesn't suit you, adding accessories such as a bidet can spruce up that area regardless.
Consider giving the room a new coat of paint or perhaps new curtains if you have a window, or even a different shower curtain. Sometimes installing new towel rails or toilet paper holders can add a nice touch. Changing the taps on your basin can help brighten the atmosphere a little, especially in a case where you may go from one style -- a single handle, perhaps -- to another one, such as a two- handle arrangement.
Changes -- whether they are large ones or small ones -- can help make an old bathroom new again, or make a new bathroom cozier. Either way, whether you install a new bathtub or perhaps a few new light fixtures, the bathroom can be given a breath of fresh air worth spending three years in.
